It is possible to use a Bluetooth printer on more than one computer system.

With the onset of Bluetooth technology, it has become easier than ever before to connect hardware wirelessly, without the aid of cables. Wireless printers receive a signal via Bluetooth from wireless computers with orders to print documents.

With this technology, multiple computers can print to a single printer without messy bundles of wires. Before Bluetooth, you had to disconnect the printer from a specific computer, then plug it back into a different computer system. With a standard wireless printer that uses a USB dongle you still are required to disconnect the dongle and plug it into the second computer.

Install Bluetooth Printer Drivers

Insert the driver installation disc into the first laptop. The installation wizard will soon launch. Accept the end-user agreement (if you don’t, the installation wizard is closed), then leave the installation name and location as-is. Click “Install” and the driver installs directly onto the computer system.

Click "Finish" when the installation completes. Make sure the Bluetooth of the laptop is powered on (if there is a power button or activation on the computer). Select “Start,” “Control Panel,” then choose the Bluetooth feature. This loads the Bluetooth options window. Select to turn the option on and the computer searches for any Bluetooth devices in the area. Select the Bluetooth printer, then type in the four digit pair code, located in the printer’s user manual. Select “Connect” and the printer syncs up with laptop computer system.

Pair Bluetooth Printer

Click the "Start" button on the desktop, followed by "Control Panel." This will open the Control Panel window. Select the "Printer" icon. This will open a smaller "Printer" options window. Right-click the printer icon and choose “Set as Default.” The Bluetooth printer now becomes the default device used on your computer system.

Repeat these setup and driver installation steps with the second laptop (this requires you to eject the driver installation CD from the first computer and insert it into the new system).

Print with Wireless Bluetooth Printer

Open the program you want to print from once the installation has finished (on either computer), then click “File,” “Open” and choose the document you wish to print. Once the file has opened click “File,” “Print.” This loads the printer option window.

Choose the Bluetooth based printer as the go-to device, then choose the number of copies you want to make and click “Print.” The print request is now sent to the Bluetooth based printer and the printer produces the document. You can now perform this task with any of the computers connected to the wireless Bluetooth printer.
